About Us

In March 2004, the Central Texas Players Golf Association filed a “letter of intent” to establish a The First Tee Chapter in Killeen, TX. After submitting a comprehensive application, including organizational, site, program, operating and funding plans, The First Tee home office approved it on December 22, 2004.

On this date The First Tee of Killeen, which includes the area from Nolanville to Copperas Cove, officially joined The First Tee Network. Once our Chapter was approved, we started to execute the business plan. We established an office, began recruiting volunteers to perform the hundreds of tasks associated with the start up of any new organization.

The First Tee of Killeen operates under the 501 [C], [3] umbrella of Central Texas Players Golf Association (CTPGA) a non-profit charitable organization. Our mission is to impact the lives of young people by providing learning facilities, educational programs that promote character development and life-enhancing values through the game of Golf. We do more than teach children how to play golf, we demonstrate how the life skills and values can be applied to improve their lives. We show them how to define and set goals and how to make good decisions by considering the consequences of the other options. We demonstrate the importance of maintaining a positive attitude and show how the Nine Core Values of The First Tee transfer from the golf course to their every day lives at home, school, and community.
